Orjela Stafasani

Perceiving the novel Hadji of Frakulla as a new departure for Vath Koreshi, the author of this article discusses the elements that differentiate the work from the methods of socialist realism, and reads the work as homage to the age of the poets – whom he refers to as bejtexhinj, or “couplet makers”. The novel is thus analyzed relative to Aljamiado literature, giving it the status of hypertext.
Besides the narrative arc, it analyzes the oriental poetic model and the fully orientalist style, driven by the authorial intent to established temporal context and the ambience of the events.

Key words: hipertext, intertext, aljamiado, homage, nostalgy, orientalism
